Part of the Wednesdays at Noon series, Musique Royale welcomes the Trad Ensemble from the Halifax Institute of Traditional and Early Music to perform on Wednesday July 29th at 12 pm at St John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg. The Trad Ensemble is an inter-generational group from all walks of life exploring traditional music genres together. The concert will also feature a cameo collaboration from surprise guests from the Boxwood Festival. The concert is directed by Jennifer Publicover and the Trad Ensemble will play music from Sweden and Ireland, with Maritime and Cape Breton old time tunes too.

Wednesdays at Noon is a series of music presentations at St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg. Concerts are roughly 45 minutes in length and are held every Wednesday at 12 pm through July and August. Performances feature artists from the local and national scene in an eclectic mix of presentations. These performances will draw residents and tourists to enjoy music within beautiful and historic setting of St John’s, the second-oldest Anglican church in Canada, and first church established in Lunenburg. Admission is $10 at the door, youth free. Programming supports the St John’s Music Program.

About the HITEM Trad Ensemble

The Trad Ensemble at the Halifax Institute of Traditional and Early Music offers instrumentalists from ages 14 to adult the opportunity to learn a wide variety of tunes from various cultures - Scottish, Irish, Scandinavian, Balkan, Breton, Galician/Asturian, Klezmer, Cape Breton, Old Time, and more. The class also features many guest instructors from the Halifax traditional music scene and beyond. This has included David Greenberg (Cape Breton), Mohammad Sahraei (Iranian), Gina Burgess (klezmer), Cathy Ann MacPhee (Gaelic song), Kirsty Money (Swedish nyckelharpa), Adrianne Greenbaum (klezmer), Ralsgård \& Tullberg (Sweden), Wendy MacIsaac (Cape Breton), Jeremy Finney (Irish), Ellen Gibling and Alys Howe (harp), Saeed Foroughi (Persian), Darren McMullen (of Còig), Adam Leblanc (Acadian), Chris Norman (Scottish etc.), Kevin Crawford (Irish, of Lúnasa), Skip Holmes (Old Time), and more.
